The tug-line hitch allows dogs that are hitched to the sulky with a tug-line to pull straight ahead instead of at an angle. One or two dogs will be hitched to the shaft. A third and/or fourth dog will be hitched to the tug-line hitch with tug-lines. Because the tug-line hitch spreads the dogs out, they too can pull straight ahead. We used to call it the four-dog hitch.
